Antonis Samarakis (1919-2003) was one of the most prominent writers of post-war Greek literature. Known for his dark and often pessimistic style, which often expressed his concern about his country’s youth, Samarakis produced fine samples of Greek literature.

Cyprus-Tube is a website which hosts hundreds of videos from Cypriot TV.  Included are whole episodes from TV series, music, documentaries and simple guides on the  Greek Alphabet. My personal favourite is the Cyprus is an island documentary from the 1940s, with beautiful visual material on a time gone by (narration in English).

I would like to draw your attention to a 1928 issue of National Geographic with many photographs and good commentary on Cyprus at the time of transition from the Ottoman era to the colonial period. Even though British administration began in 1878, the remnants of the island’s Ottoman past were (and still are) visible.
